ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team swept the Arlington Baptist Patriots 3-0 on Tuesday night at the Mabee Athletic Complex in the team's home opener.
The Cowgirls took the win with sets of 25-17, 25-16, and 25-21 in the sweep. Hardin-Simmons hit for 46 kills in three sets with an attack percentage of .257 as a team.
Ellie Carter led all Cowgirls with seven kills in the quick win.
Avery Tumlinson and
Eden Glaus added six kills each, Tumlinson did it while swinging for .625 with only one error and served three aces for HSU.
Grace Gholson led the Cowgirl team with 17 assists.
Allison O'Shaughnessy and
Madeleine Hanson each had ten assists in the match against Arlington Baptist. Hanson also served a pair of aces.
Freshman
Whitlee Blacklock had 18 digs to lead the Cowgirls on the back row for the evening.
The Cowgirls improved to 5-4 on the season and will head to California to play at Cal Lutheran beginning on Friday, Sept. 18 for two games starting at 3 p.m. CT against Claremont Mudd-Scripps. Hardin-Simmons will be back at home on Tuesday, Sept. 22 against Concordia Texas at 6 p.m. in the Mabee Center.
