ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team opened the year at Concordia Texas with a 1-0 defeat to the Tornados on the road Thursday night.
Concordia scored the lone goal of the night in the 40
th minute to take the game 1-0. CTX shot 29 times with 12 shots on goal with HSU taking eight shots with six on frame. Concordia led the corner kicks distribution with three to one against the Cowboys.
Hardin-Simmons combined with 11 saves between two goalkeepers.
Joel McPherson had six saves in the first half and
Joaquin Sanchez finished with five saves playing the second half.
The Cowboys will play their home opener on Saturday night at the HSU Soccer Complex against Lyon College beginning at 7 p.m.
