NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team played to a scoreless draw at No. 25 Christopher Newport on Friday night on the East Coast.
The game had a lightning delay seven minutes into the first half that lasted over an hour, pushing the game to a late finish on Friday night.
Hardin-Simmons shot nine times with four shots on goal to CNU's 17 shots and nine shots on goal.
The Cowgirl keepers worked for the shutout tie with nine saves in the game. Senior
Samantha Longoria started and had three saves in the first half, and freshman Rebecaa Hall played the second 45-minute stint with six saves in the combined shutout of No. 25 Christopher Newport.
Tatum Barnett led all Cowgirls, taking three total shots and forcing one shot on goal in the contest.
The Cowgirl attack forced six corner-kick opportunities against the top-25 defenders, and CNU worked for four corner kick attempts in the game.
The match ended in a draw with no score, and the Cowgirls will remain on the East Coast to play at Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT. in Norfolk, Va.
