SHERMAN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's
basketball team fell behind 23-6 and could never recover in a 79-56
loss to old American Southwest Conference rival Austin College on
Saturday evening in the Bob Mason Classic in Sherman.
The Kangaroos scored the first 11 points of the game and it was
23-6 with 13:31 to play in the first half. The Cowboys cut it to
34-24 with 5:55 to play in the first half, but AC finished the half
on a 17-4 run to make it 51-30 at halftime.
It was a rough shooting night for the Cowboys, as they shot only
28.6 percent and they made only 4-of-27 3-point shots.
Rob Yeatts and Aaron Thornton each scored 12 points to pace the
Cowboys. Austin College was led by Kola Alade's 19 points and
11 assists.
Hardin-Simmons (1-2) will next be in action on Tuesday at
Southwestern at 7 p.m. Austin College moved to 1-2 on the year with
the win.
