AUSTIN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team dropped a foul-plagued game to Concordia, 113-108, in American Southwest Conference action at Tornado Gym in Austin.

The game featured 76 fouls and the teams combined for 67 turnovers in a game and the game lasted 2:45 minutes. HSU hit just 33-of-51 free throws in the game and Concordia hit 35-of-45 in the contest.

Concordia jumped out to a big first half lead that grew to as much as 16 at 47-31, but HSU scored 12 straight points to make it 47-43 with :40 to play in the half. Concordia scored the last four points of the half to lead 51-43.

The second half was a battle of attrition as the Cowboys had three guards foul out of the game and senior guard Casey Riddle missed most of the game with an injured finger. Concordia hit 22-of-28 second half free throws and the Cowboys went just 18-of-29 at the line in the second half.

HSU made several runs at the Tornados in the second half and four times had shots to tie the game. It was 90-87 and the Cowboys missed open 3-pointers on two straight trips.

Matt Addison made it 109-107 with :34 to play with a pair of free throws and he stole the inbounds pass, but his jumper was long. Concordia then split a pair of free throws and Ryan Carlson's 3-pointer to tie the game was partially blocked.

Addison had 34 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds for the Cowboys. Freshman Joe Richards had his best game of the season with 15 points and nine rebounds and John Derr added 14 points. Taylor Jacobs had 30 second-half points and finished the game with 33 for Concordia.

HSU is now 9-7 on the season and 8-4 in league play. Concordia is now 10-7 and 8-5 in ASC West play. The Cowboys will host Texas Lutheran and Schreiner next week at the Mabee Complex.
