Box Score GEORGETOWN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team held off Southwestern, 65-53, on Tuesday afternoon in Georgetown in the final game of the fall semester for the Cowboys.
HSU took control of the game midway through the first half when they used a 21-4 run to go from down 14-11 at the 9:05 mark to up 35-18 with 2:08 to play.
The Pirates never made a run at the Cowboys in the second half until the final five minutes. HSU led the game 50-30 with 10:44 to play and Southwestern cut it to 57-46.
Darius Singletary led the Cowboys with 12 points and Titus Mims added 10 in a balanced attach. Jeff Holland had a career-high nine points. Adrian Johnson led Southwestern with 10 points.
The Cowboys are now 7-2 on the year and Southwestern fell to 4-7 on the year.
HSU will take the next week off for Christmas before returning to action Dec. 29 in Las Vegas against Linfield at the D3hoops.com Classic.
