ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season 77-54 to Texas Lutheran on Monday night at the Mabee Complex.

The Bulldogs hit 12 3-pointers and shot 48.2 percent from the field. TLU hit 13-of-24 shots in the second half, while the Cowboys were 5-for-23 from the field in the second half and shot just 16-for-50, 32 percent for the game.

The game featured 11 leads changes and three ties in the first half. The Bulldogs scored the final seven points of the half over the final 2:08 to take a 39-32 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs quickly pushed the lead to 57-37 in the second half and the Cowboys never answered.

HSU had been undefeated prior to losing the game at 9-0 and the Bulldogs have won five of their last six to improve to 5-5 on the year.

Cameron Barnes led the Cowboys with 18 points and Derrick Jefferson had 13 points for the Cowboys.

Jordan Kouremetis led Texas Lutheran with 13 points. Garrett Wilkins added 11 points and seven players had seven or more points.

The Cowboys return to conference action on Saturday at Louisiana College.
