Box Score ABILENE, Texas — Derrick Jefferson scored a career-best 31 points to propel Hardin-Simmons to a school-record tying ninth straight win, 95-75, over LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference men's basketball action at the Mabee Complex.
HSU jumped to an early 10-2 lead, but LeTourneau battled back and eventually took the lead. HSU closed the half on a 10-0 run to take the biggest lead of the half at 48-37.
The Cowboys played all but one possession of the second half with a double-digit lead and led by as many as 21 at 80-59 with 5:29 to play.
Jefferson had six rebounds and six steals to go along with his 31 points. He was 13-for-18 at the free throw line. Charles Sams had 19 points, including four 3-pointers, Titus Mims scored 16 points and John Barnes had 10 points and nine assists.
Justin Jones had 24 points and 14 rebounds and LaDaria Brown had 21 points to pace LeTourneau.
HSU is now 15-7 on the year and 15-4 in American Southwest Conference play. LeTourneau fell to 4-17 overall and 3-15 in league play. HSU will honor its four seniors on Senior Day against East Texas Baptist at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
