Box Score AUSTIN, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team rebounded from its first conference loss with a win against the league's hottest team beating Concordia 92-88 in American Southwest Conference action at the Concordia Fieldhouse in Austin.
The Cowboys fell behind early 31-17 in the first half before an 18-4 run tied the game at 35. Concordia pushed the lead out to 10 at 62-52 with 14:19 but the Cowboys answered again. This time HSU used a 15-4 run to take a 67-66 lead with 10:41 to play.
The teams went back-and-forth the rest of the way and HSU went ahead 84-81 on a Duane Hopper 3-point play with 3:20 to play and never trailed again.
HSU shot 50 percent and held the Tornados to 35.9 percent shooting. HSU also dominated on the boards with a 54-36 advantage.
Derrick Jefferson led five Cowboys in double figures with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Justin Jones had 18, Duane Hopper 16, Nathaniel Jack had 15 points and 19 rebounds and Nate Lewis added 13.
Rashad Coleman led five Tornados in double figures with 19. Terry Corprew hit five 3-pointers, accounting for all 15 of his points.
The Cowboys are now 13-2 overall and 9-1 in ASC action. Concordia fell to 9-6 overall and 5-5 in league play. HSU will host Ozarks on Thursday at 5:30.
