Box Score ALPINE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team improved to 16-2 with a hard 75-61 win over Sul Ross State in American Southwest Conference action at the Gallego Center in Alpine.
The Cowboys pushed out to a 33-20 lead in the first half to take control early, but the Lobos answered with seven straight points. HSU led 37-27 at halftime.
In the second half the Lobos hung around put never got the deficit to less than five and every time the Lobos would come close the Cowboys had the answer to pull away.
Justin Jones led a balanced HSU attack with 19 points. Derrick Jefferson had 14 points, Cameron Barnes added 12 points and Charles Sams had 10.
Rocky Feliciano had 28 points for Sul Ross State and Damian Rhodriquez added 12 for the Lobos.
HSU is 16-2 on the year and 12-1 in conference play. Sul Ross State fell to 2-15 and 1-10 in league play. The Cowboys will return home to host Howard Payne at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
