Dixon Buries Record 10 Three-Pointers As Cowboys Roll

ABILENE, Texas – Dashun Dixon hit a school record 10 3-pointers to pace the Hardin-Simmons men's basketball team to a 112-91 American Southwest Conference win over the University of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowboys hit a season-best 20 3-pointers in the contest, which was one of the school record of 21. Dixon's 10 3-pointers broke Carlos Singer's single game mark of nine.

HSU controlled the game for most of the way. Cameron Barnes had a dunk off the opening tip. HSU used an 18-2 run from the 15:17 mark to the 12:21 mark to open a 25-12 lead and the lead was never in single digits the rest of the way.

Dixon hit his first five 3-pointers in the first half and was 6-for-8 in the first half. He finished the day 10-for-18 and had an HSU season-high 30 points.

The Cowboys controlled the game on the backboards, outrebounding Ozarks 57-37. Nathaniel Jack had 13 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, Justin Jones added 19 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks and Duane Hopper just missed a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Barnes had 16 points and five assists.  

Dylan Gray led Ozarks with 21 points. Jace Richardson, Kelby Robinson and Ben Grice each added 12 points.

The win was the sixth straight for the Cowboys, who improved to 10-4 on the year and finished ASC cross-divisional play at 5-1. Ozarks fell to 5-4 overall and 0-4 in league play.
HSU will travel to Howard Payne in its next action on Thursday.
