BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team could not overcome a strong start by Mary Hardin-Baylor and fell 91-65 in American Southwest Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Belton.

The Cru jumped out to a 16-2 lead and the Cowboys were never within double digits the rest of the game. HSU shot 22.2 percent in the first half and the Cru shot 54.8 percent.

HSU shot a little better in the second half but the Cru continued their torrid pace. UMHB shot 35-for-63 in the game for 55.6 percent. HSU shot 25-of-76 for 34.2 percent.

Aidan Walsh led the Cowboys with 13 points, seven assists, five steals and five rebounds. Anthony Hunter added 10 points.

Josiah Johnson led the Cru with 34 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and five steals. Ty Prince added 22 points and 12 rebounds.

HSU is now 9-5 on the year and 4-3 in conference play. UMHB improved to 9-3 overall and 6-0 in ASC play.

The Cowboys will travel to Belhaven and Louisiana College next weekend.
