Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team moved to 4-0 in American Southwest Conference action with a 99-76 win over Concordia on Thursday night at the Mabee Complex.
Chase Cobb and Steven Quinn each had eight points in a 17-7 run to open the game for the Cowboys. Concordia cut the deficit to 24-17 and HSU used an 8-0 run to push the lead out to 32-17. HSU built on the lead and led 57-38 at halftime.
HSU never let the Tornados back in the game in the second half and rolled to the victory.
Steven Quinn had 21 points in the first half on 7-of-7 shooting from the field. He was 4-for-4 from 3-point range.
The Cowboys shot 61.7 percent in the game and handled the Tornados' full-court pressure with just 13 turnovers. HSU dominated in the paint with a 58-34 advantage. Defensively, the Cowboys held the Tornados to 37.9 percent from the field and 4-of-21 from 3-point range.
Quinn finished with 28 points and nine rebounds to pace five Cowboys in double figures. Quinn was 9-for-12 on the night from the field and it was his third straight with 24 or more points and his fifth 20-point game of the season.
Kaleb Favors, Austin Brewer and Trey Wooldridge had 11 points each and Cobb added 10. Favors also added five assists and five steals. Luis Gonzalez had 21 points to lead the Tornados.
The Cowboys are now 8-1 on the year and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference play. Concordia fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in league play. HSU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 3 p.m.
