Cowboys Win Fourth Straight

ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team won its fourth straight game with a 99-57 rout of Howard Payne on Monday night in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex in Abilene.

The game was never in doubt after the early minutes. Steven Quinn hit three 3-pointers in the first five minutes of the game and HSU jumped out to a 19-8 lead. HSU pushed the lead out to 50-24 at halftime.

The Cowboys opened the second half with four 3-pointers in the opening minutes, including three by Kyle Brennon. HSU was able to get plenty of minutes for its young players in the second half and they responded by building on the lead.

HSU had seven players score in double figures in the game. Brennon led the way with 13 points, Quinn, Jackson Robinson and Kannon Jones each scored 12, and Jordyn Vicente, Neal Chambliss and Aidan Walsh all scored 10 points each.

Tyrell Thompson had 14 points for HPU and Michael House scored 10 points.

The Cowboys improved to 13-5 overall and 8-3 in ASC action. Howard Payne fell to 0-18 overall and 0-11 in league play.

HSU will host crosstown rival McMurry on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Complex.
