Box Score 2 WICHITA, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a pair of games to open the season at Midwestern State on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cowgirl season finally got to kick off on Tuesday after being pushed back a few weeks due to weather.
The Mustangs won game one 10-2 and game two 12-4 over Hardin-Simmons.
In game one, Kaylen Washington had four strikeouts pitching for the Cowgirls in the loss. Haven Williams came in and threw a pair of strikeouts in relief.
Peyton Newman led the Cowgirls with two hits with a double in game one while Audrey Solomon had one RBI. Brittanie Henry also had a couple hits in game one.
The Cowgirls started Brookelyn Casper for game two. Williams and Kelly Shackelford came in to finish the game in the loss.
Henry led the team with three hits and three runs scored in game two. Solomon added two more RBIs to her daily total and Newman also knocked one in for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls fall to 0-2 after their first competition. The Cowgirls are making the trip to Belhaven for the first ASC opponent of the year on Friday, games beginning at 1 p.m. in Jackson, Mississippi.
