Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to five games with an 86-61 win over crosstown rival McMurry in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Thursday night.
The Cowboys dominated the game in the paint with a 48-28 advantage in points in the paint. HSU also had a 41-29 advantage in rebounding. The Cowboys shot 57.1 percent in the game.
HSU scored the first six points of the game and never trailed. A 17-0 run late in the first half put the game away as HSU led 41-20 at halftime.
In the second half, the Cowboys pushed the lead to as big as 36 at 79-43 with 6:05 to play.
Kyle Brennon led four Cowboys in double figures with 17 points. Steven Quinn added 15, Trey Wooldridge scored 14 and Neal Chambliss had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Rob Charles led McMurry with 11 points off the bench.
HSU is now 14-5 on the year and 9-3 in American Southwest Conference action. McMurry fell to 4-13 overall and 4-8 in league play. The teams will play against on Saturday at 8 p.m. at McMurry.
