Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team advanced to the American Southwest Conference semifinal with a 94-71 win over Sul Ross State on Wednesday night at the Mabee Complex.
The teams went back and forth the early part of the game and HSU led 19-18 then Aidan Walsh scored nine straight points to give the Cowboys a 28-20 lead. Walsh hit back-to-back 3-pointers and had a 3-point play. The Cowboys led 44-33 at halftime.
Steven Quinn hit a jumper, Neal Chambliss a lay-up and then Quinn hit back-to-back 3-pointers to push the lead to 64-45 with 14:28 to play. The Cowboys closed the game out from there.
HSU shot 53.8 percent on the night, including 11-of-25 on 3-pointers.
Walsh led the Cowboys with 26 points, Steven Quinn added 21 points and 12 rebounds and Trey Wooldridge scored 13 points off the bench.
Tristen Licon had 22 points to pace the Lobos and Trey Nelson added 15 points and Julian Paredes scored 14.
HSU is now 16-7 and Sul Ross State concluded the season at 9-12.
The Cowboys will play the University of the Ozarks on Sunday at 5:30 in Clarksville, Ark.
