Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team fell to the University of the Ozarks 71-62 in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex.
The two teams were close in the early going and HSU took its only lead of the game at 7-5. Ozarks responded with a 13-2 run and never trailed the rest of the way.
The Cowboys tied the game a couple of times late in the first half before Ozarks led 31-27 at halftime.
Ozarks used a 10-1 run that was capped by back-to-back 3-pointer by Zach Bobo midway through the second half to push the lead out to 50-38 and eventually led 61-46 with 6:43 to play.
HSU battled back and cut the deficit to six points at 65-59 with 1:38 to play but the Eagles iced the game by going 6-for-6 at the foul line in the final minute.
Bobo led Ozarks with 21 points, Bryson Johnson had 14 points and Zach Byrd and Grayson Nix scored 11 points each.
Kyle Brennon led the Cowboys with 16 points and Trey Wooldridge added 11.
HSU is now 15-6 overall and 10-4 in ASC action and saw its six-game winning streak come to an end. Ozarks improved to 6-3 overall, all in conference play.
The Cowboys will close out the regular season on Saturday when it hosts UT Dallas at 6 p.m.
