Box Score ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell 4-3 to the Concordia Texas Tornados on Friday in American Southwest Conference play.
Concordia scored in the first inning and the Cowgirls tied it after Peyton Newman singled home a run in the first.
The Tornados took the lead 4-1 in the fourth inning. Mason McCord doubled home a run and Karis Hessert followed with another Cowgirl double to make it 4-3 in the fifth. The Cowgirls couldn't get the tying run and fell by a final of 4-3.
Kaylen Washington started at pitcher for the Cowgirls and had the loss. Tisdale Bailey started for Concordia and had three strikeouts in the win.
Hessert and Washington each had two hits for the Cowgirls. McCord, Hessert, and Newman all had an RBI in the effort.
The Cowgirls fall to 9-13 on the year and 5-7 in the conference while Concordia moves to 16-9 and 10-5 in the ASC. The HSU softball team will play its next game at Lubbock Christian on Tuesday for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
