Box Score 2 LUBBOCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball dropped two games playing at Lubbock Christian Tuesday evening.
The Cowgirls battled in game one and fell by a final of 5-3 to LCU. Kaylen Washington hit a solo homerun in the second inning to start the Cowgirl scoring.
Hardin-Simmons scored on an error in the fourth and Karis Hessert singled home a run in the seventh to finish the Cowgirl scoring in game one.
Kelly Shackelford started for HSU and had the loss with a strikeout. Haven Williams finished pitching game one for the Cowgirls.
Mason McCord had two hits in game one with a double. Washington had one RBI on the homerun and Hessert drove in one as well.
The Cowgirls fell 13-3 in game two. The Cowgirls were down 4-3 in the third and then Lubbock Christian scored eight in the third to get the margin.
Aubrianna Salazar pitched to start and had the loss in two innings. Christian Blevins came in for the Cowgirls, followed by Williams. Washington had two RBIs on a double for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls move to 9-15 after their trip to Lubbock. The HSU softball team will host the Sul Ross State Lobos on Friday night for an ASC doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. at Ellis Field in Abilene.
