NEWBERG, Oregon – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to five straight games as the Cowboys closed the Oregon trip with an 88-70 win over George Fox University on Wednesday night in Oregon.

The Cowboys never trailed in the game and jumped out to an early 17-2 lead in the first 6:06 of the game.  HSU kept the lead in double digits the rest of the first half and led 45-30 at halftime.

HSU led 64-48 when the Bruins made one more push at the Cowboys and cut the deficit to 73-66 with 6:54 to play. HSU used a quick 13-3 run to push the lead back out and the Cowboys held on down the stretch.

It was a good night for the Cowboys on the inside as they had a 41-22 rebounding advantage and a 52-30 advantage in the paint. HSU also went 18-for-18 at the free throw line in the contest.

Steven Quinn finished the night with 29 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the floor. He also hit all five free throws and added nine rebounds and five assists. Will Bartoszek and Calaway Dykes had 16 points each and Austin Brewer had 10 points.   

Momo Stokes led the Bruins with 19 points and James Moore (18) and Mo Jackson (10) added double-digit scoring off the bench.

The Cowboys are now 8-4 on the year and will take a two-week break before returning home to face St. Thomas on Jan. 5. George Fox fell to 2-9 with the loss.
