BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball evened its record with an 82-63 win over Howard Payne in American Southwest Conference action on Thursday night at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The teams felt each other out in the first 10 minutes and HSU led 21-19. Freshman Trevion Howell then gave the Cowboys a lift when he hit a 3-pointer and had back-to-back lay-ups as the Cowboys pushed the lead out to 32-21.

HPU then cut the deficit to 32-26 before the Cowboys closed the first half on a 14-4 run to take a 46-30 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Cowboys were able to handle the pressure of the Yellow Jackets and continued to build on the lead.

Steven Quinn led the Cowboys with 25 points. Will Bartoszek had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and added four assists and three steals.

Armoine Ramey and Myles Brown each scored 12 points for the Yellow Jackets.

HSU evened its record at 4-4 overall and 2-2 in ASC play. HPU fell to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in league play.

The Cowboys will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Sul Ross State at the Mabee Complex at 3 p.m.
