Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team drained 22 3-point baskets en route to a 125-96 win over Howard Payne in American Southwest Conference action on Saturday at the Mabee Complex.
The game was never in doubt after the Cowboys opened on a 10-0 run. HSU went 11-of-18 in the first half from 3-point range, including five from freshman Jamison Bosch and three from sophomore transfer Calaway Dykes. HSU led 60-38 at halftime.
It was more of the same in the second half as the Cowboys hit 11-of-22. Seven different Cowboys hit from behind the arc including three by Austin Brewer, two more by Bosch and two by Jackson Robinson. HSU had a lead as big as 32 points.
The Cowboys forced 18 turnovers and had just nine in the game. HSU also shot 44-of-76 from the field for 57.9 percent and 22-of-40 from 3-point range for 55 percent.
Bosch's 23 points led a balanced Cowboy attack that saw 11 of the 12 players score and six of them reached doubles figures. Austin Brewer added 18 points, Will Bartoszek had 15, Callaway Dykes scored 14, Jason Justice scored 13 and added six assists. Steven Quinn had 11 on a season-low seven shots.
Jerren Godfrey had 23 points off the bench to lead HPU. Armoine Ramey had 19 points and Deven Bailey chopped in a dozen.
The Cowboys will play at Ozarks and UT Dallas this week, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. game at Ozarks on Thursday night.
