Box Score BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team fell 72-64 to East Texas Baptist in the American Southwest Conference Championship game on Saturday night at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
The teams went back and forth for the first 32 minutes with 11 ties and 16 lead changes. The game was tied at 53 when the Tigers hit for the decisive 10-2 run.
The Cowboys cut the deficit to 66-62 with 1:24 to play but Jayden Williams buried a crushing 3-pointer to push the lead back out to seven.
The Tigers outrebounded the Cowboys 43-25 and limited HSU to three offensive rebounds.
Steven Quinn had 13 points in his final game and finished his career with 1,946 points which is second all-time in HSU history. Aidan Walsh and Austin Arnold also played their final games as Cowboys.
Callaway Dykes and Jason Justice had 16 points each to pace the Cowboys and Austin Brewer added 10.
Darry Moore had 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers and Williams added 16 off the bench.
Quinn and Justice were named to the ASC All-Tournament team.
The Cowboys finished their season with a record of 19-9 and ETBU improved to 24-5 and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
