HOUSTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the FasTrak Athletix Collegiate Challenge in Houston on Saturday with multiple record performances.
Kylah Holland improved her record in the Cowgirl indoor mile run and 3000m. She ran a 5:14.80 mile for fifth place and had a 10:27 in the 3000m for second overall in Houston.
Freshman
Davare Payne set the record for Cowboy indoor in the triple jump with a 47-2 ½ ft. jump, breaking his mark set in December of 46-8 ¼ ft. and taking second place at the meet.
Gunner Helm matched the record for the high jump at 6-4 ¾ ft. for the Cowboys in indoor track, which he had previously cleared in December to share the mark with
Layton Ranson.
The Cowgirls were led by
Kylah Washington in the 60m with a 7.98. Avalin Griggs ran 8.32 and
Honor Knott finished in 8.41 in the 60m dash.
Donovan Smith led a host of Cowboys in the 60m with a time of 7.15.
Joshua Olabode ran a 7.20,
Bain Shanklin finished in 7.32, and
Javarian Belcha ran a 7.35.
Kaden Landeros ran a 60m time of 7.47, Darius Bishop came in at 7.50, and
Brett Zamzow ran 7.51.
Joshua Carpenter had a time of 7.62 in the 60m.
Emmalee Horton ran a 10.72 in the 60m hurdles for the Cowgirls. Payne took eighth with an 8.37 for the Cowboys in the hurdles.
Aiden Chalk ran an 8.72 and
Garret Rothans ran 8.93.
Washington led the Cowgirls in the 200m with a 26.28.
Nikki Tolbert ran a 26.42 while Danielle Pena ran 27.41 and
Sophie Hale finished in 28.98.
Kareem Mason led the Cowboys in the 200m with a time of 23.38. Simmons ran 23.39 and Belcha ran a 23.53. Olabode came in at 23.66 with Adan Santoyo running 23.89. Shanklin ran a time of 23.95, with Elijah McKinney finishing in 24.70 and
Zorian Burley running a 27 flat in the 200m.
Zamzow led the Cowboys in the 400m with a 53.87 time. Mason had a 54.71 and
Chris Freeman ran a 400m of 55.09. McKinney came in at 56.05,
Jose Villarreal ran a 57.37, and
Markus Stone finished in 59.12.
Tolbert led the Cowgirls in the 400m with a 1:00 run. Pena had a time of 1:03 in the 400m. Jazmin Mendez led the Cowgirls in the 800m with a 2:35.
Elijah Holmes led the Cowboys in the mile run with a 5:01. Juan Uribe had a mile run of 5:08 for HSU.
Garret Rothans high jumped 6-02 ¾ ft. for the Cowboys while
Janae Green led the Cowgirls with a 4-9 ft. clearance.
Kaden Landeros led the Cowboys in the long jump with a 20-09 ft. landing. Jay Black jumped 18-9 ¼ ft. and Evan Hill jumped 18-8 ½ ft. while Carpenter landed a long jump of 18-5 ft.
Danielle Sauls had the Cowgirl best long jump of 15-3 ¼ ft.
Abby Bramlett jumped 14-5 ft. and
Emerald Garcia landed a long jump of 14-4 ½ ft.
Darius Bishop had a Cowboy triple jump of 41-6 ft. Evan Hanson threw a 45-2 ½ ft. in the weight throw and
Nathan Mangual threw a weight throw of 34-10 ½ ft.
Hanson led the Cowboys in the shot put with a 46-1 ½ ft. throw.
Aiden Loper had a 43-8 ft. toss and Mangual threw for 41-9 ¾ ft. DeMonte Carter threw the shot 38-0 ¾ ft. for HSU.
