BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team took home their 27
th American Southwest Conference women's soccer tournament championship, adding 2025 to the list with a 1-0 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor thanks to a golden goal by
Lexi Templin in the 91
st minute.
The Cowgirls battled with the Crusaders into extra time, and
Presleigh Thiessen cut across and forced a shot on goal that was saved but deflected to a charging Templin who struck for goal in the 91
st minute to take the 2025 ASC championship match 1-0 over UMHB.
Hardin-Simmons shot 25 times to 15 from UMHB, leading in shots on goal 10-8.
Abigail Medlin denied the Crusaders all afternoon with seven saves in the shutout win and was named ASC championship tournament MVP.

Lexi Templin were all named to the ASC championship all-tournament team, joining MVP goalkeeper
Abigail Medlin for the Cowgirls.
"It's unreal, to be able to win a championship, like that, with a golden goal in overtime," said Cowgirl head coach
Rusty Oglesby. "This team has persevered late in this season, and a lot of our young kids have really stepped up too. It was a total team effort today, from our defense all the way to the goal, and we're excited to get to keep playing soccer next week."
The Cowgirls won the 2025 ASC women's soccer championship to make it three straight and will see where the they end up in the NCAA Tournament, with the bracket announced on Monday, Nov. 10. at 10 a.m. on NCAA.com.
