Emmanuel Akers

Has started 11 career games at cornerback and is expected to be one of the leaders of the secondary. 2010: Started all 10 games at cornerback and recorded 23 tackles on the year. Also, had an interception against McMurry’s Jake Mullin. It was one of just two interceptions Mullin threw the entire season. Had five pass breakups. Had a season-best six tackles in the McMurry game. 2009: Had a productive sophomore season as playing in six games and started one at cornerback. He had 15 total tackles, including a career-best nine in his lone start against Linfield. He was third on the team with 12 tackles on passing plays. He also had an interception in the loss at Linfield. Played on the junior varsity as a freshman. High School: Played at Wolfe City High School for coach Todd Palmer. Personal: Son of Jeannine Cherry.
