Cowgirls Move To 4-0 With Sweep

LONGVIEW, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team moved to 4-0 on the year with a pair of wins Friday in the LeTourneau Invitational in Longview. HSU defeated Austin College 8-0 and came back to beat Huntingdon in the nightcap, 4-1.

In the Austin College game, Sadye Hill had a pair of hits and drove in three runs for the Cowgirls. Lydia Bradley and Cricket Criner each had a pair of hits.

Freshman Lacie Cole earned the win with five shutout innings in her collegiate debut. Kalyn Rosser threw two scoreless innings of relief for the Cowgirls.

In the nightcap, Laura Rawlings moved to 2-0 on the season as she went the distance, allowing one run and striking out 10. Hill, Rawlings and freshman Kourtney Bailey each had two hits for the Cowgirls.

The Cowgirls will play third-ranked Plattsburgh State on Saturday at 9 a.m. and will follow that with a game against ASC rival East Texas Baptist.
