PINEVILLE, La. — Hardin-Simmons' men's
basketball team dropped to 0-4 with an 82-75 loss to Louisiana
College Monday night in American Southwest Conference action in
Pineville, La.
HSU could not cool down the hot-shooting Wildcats as LC hit
11-of-14 3-pointers in the game and shot 56 percent from the field.
HSU shot 48.3 percent in the game.
The scrappy Cowboys outrebounded LC 33-29 and forced 18 turnovers,
but committed 20 turnovers of their own.
LC led 32-18 in the first half, but the Cowboys cut the deficit
down to 40-36 at one point and trailed 42-36 at halftime. It was
50-44 with 18:05 to play, but a quick 10-0 run put the game away
for Louisiana College.
John Derr again led the Cowboys with 17 points and Aaron Thornton
added 15. Jarrod Jackson had 19 points and Korey Salmon and Chukuma
Ekeh each had 11 for LC.
HSU closed the game on a 20-4 run to cut a 23-point deficit to the
final margin of seven.
The Cowboys are now 0-4 on the season and 0-2 in ASC action. LC
improved to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in league action. HSU will return
home for a conference game with Texas-Tyler on Thursday.
