PINEVILLE, La. — Hardin-Simmons'
women's basketball team fell to 1-3 on the year with a 63-51
loss to Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference action
at the West Fieldhouse in Pineville, La., on Monday evening.
HSU had a 34-27 lead and led by nine early in the second half, but
Louisiana College went on a 17-2 run, thanks to eight points by
Voneshia Williams to take the lead and eventually pushed the lead
out to 11. HSU was able to cut it to six points on a couple of
occasions.
The Cowgirls had three players in double figures with Bo Warm and
Angela Newcombe scoring 12 points each and Kara Looten added
11.
Voneshia Williams led LC with 19 points, Tillishia Givens added 17
points and Christy Pantalllion had 14.
Junior All-American Lindsey Newcombe went down in the first half to
an ankle injury and did not return.
Hardin-Simmons is 1-3 overall and 0-2 in league play. LC improved
to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in ASC action. HSU will be at home for the
first time on Thursday night when it hosts UT-Tyler at the Mabee
Complex.
