GEORGETOWN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team held off a pesky Southwestern team, 60-56, to win the Southwestern Holiday Tournament on Tuesday evening in Georgetown.

The game went back and forth throughout and neither team led by more than six points in the first half. HSU took a 29-25 lead into the halftime locker room. Southwestern led 32-31 with 16:05 to play, but a quick 10-2 run gave the Cowgirls a 41-34 lead with 11:47 to play. Angela Newcombe scored eight of the 10 points in the run.

Southwestern came back with three straight 3-pointers to cut the Cowgirl lead to one at 46-45 with 8:42 to play. Bo Warm then took over for the Cowgirls as she scored 10 of the Cowgirls last 14 points down the stretch.

Warm finished the game with 22 points and the Newcombe sisters each had 14 points. Lindsey had 16 rebounds and Angela added nine rebounds. Sarah Seagraves led Southwestern with 21 points.

Warm and Lindsey Newcombe were both named to the all-tournament team. HSU will be off until it plays at Texas-Dallas on Jan. 4. HSU is 4-5 on the season and Southwestern fell to 4-6.
