RICHARDSON, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons'
men's basketball team lost its fourth straight game and fell
to 1-9 on the year with an 86-64 loss to Texas-Dallas in American
Southwest Conference action at the UTD Activities Center on Monday
night.
The Comets had a hot start led by Scott Rodgers 17 points and led
35-17 with 6:40 to go in the first half. HSU cut it to 11 points at
one point, but trailed 45-32 at halftime.
In the second half, it was a different Comet that torched the nets.
Chris Barnes had 18 points in the second half and was able to push
the lead out to 80-54 with 5:10 to play.
Aaron Thornton and Carlos Singer led the Cowboys with 18 and 17
points respectively. Barnes led UTD with a career-best 25 points.
Rodgers finished with 22 and Jared Fleming added 11.
The Cowboys shot just 33 percent in the game compared to 49 percent
by the Comets.
HSU is 1-9 overall and 1-5 in ASC action. UTD is ranked No. 16 in
the latest D3hoops.com poll. The Comets improved to 8-3 overall and
to 5-1 in league play. HSU will host East Texas Baptist on Thursday
night at the Mabee Complex.
