ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons'
men's basketball team had a strong second half and beat
Schreiner 88-82 in American Southwest Conference action at the
Mabee Complex on Thursday evening.
The Cowboys trailed 39-37 at halftime after Schreiner shot 52
percent in the first half. It looked like Schreiner was trying to
take control of the game early in the second half and the
Mountaineers pushed the lead to 53-46 with 13:47 to play.
From then on the Cowboys did not substitute the rest of the game
and the Cowboys went on a 21-5 run over the next 7:27 to take over
the game.
The Cowboys shot 60.7 percent in the second half and held
Schreiner to 40 percent shooting.
Carlos Singer led the Cowboys with 28 points. Courtney Lockridge
had a career-best 17 points and Casey Riddle filled the stat sheets
with 16 points, 10 assists, seven steals, four rebounds and two
blocks.
Riley Battle led Schreiner with 20 points and Trevor Conner added
16.
HSU is now 6-18 overall and 6-14 in ASC play. Schreiner fell to
4-20 and 4-16 in ASC action. HSU closes its season on Saturday at
home with a game against Texas Lutheran.
