Box Score 2 FARMER's BRANCH, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a pair of games on the second day of the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament at Oran Good Park in Farmer's Branch, falling 9-5 to Louisiana College and 11-0 to Texas-Tyler.
Stats from the LC game were unavailable late Saturday, but the Cowgirls led 5-2 in the game before the undefeated and nationally-ranked Wildcats rallied for the win.
In the game against UT-Tyler, the Patriots jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the top of the first. The Patriots scored six runs on seven hits in the inning. Tyler added a single run in the fourth inning and four more in the top of the seventh.
Jodi Hierholzer had three of the Cowgirls' six hits in the game. Megann Lewis (2-4) took the loss in the circle for the Cowgirls. She allowed 11 runs (six earned) on 14 hits, while striking out five in six and one-third innings. Laura Rawlings worked the final two outs for HSU.
The Cowgirls are now 3-9 on the season. HSU will open American Southwest Conference West Division play next weekend at Sul Ross State.
