Box Score AUSTIN, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team pushed its winning streak to four games with a 64-55 win over Concordia on Saturday in American Southwest Conference action at the Concordia Fieldhouse in Austin.
Junior Sara Vargas had a huge first half with 11 points and 10 rebounds to propel the Cowgirls to 29-19 lead at intermission.
HSU had a 39-32 lead with 12:57 to play and the Tornados made a push and took the lead at 41-40 on a second straight 3-point play by Nadine Fadelle.
The game was close the rest of the way and the Cowgirls led 53-50 when Kourtney Holyfield hit a 3-pointer with 2:10 to play and on the next possession made another with 1:23 to play to push the lead to 59-50.
Vargas led the Cowgirls with 17 points and 16 rebounds and Holyfield added 11 points and Taylor Klement chipped in 10.
Isis Johnson led the Tornados with 20 points and Nadine Fedelle added 17.
The Cowgirls are now 7-8 overall and 5-5 in league play. Concordia fell to 5-9 overall and 4-6 in ASC action. HSU returns home to host the University of the Ozarks on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
