Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball lost the completion of Saturday's suspended game 12-4 in six innings, but rebounded with a 3-1 win over Louisiana College in the deciding third game of its American Southwest Conference series at Ellis Field on Sunday.
Game 2
Louisiana College led 6-1 in the second game in the top of the fourth inning when it resumed. LC added a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and two more in the sixth to setup a 12-3 lead.
HSU scored two runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Sydnie Darden and an RBI single by Keagan Jiminez. Jiminez added an RBI double in the sixth.
HSU used four different pitchers in the game over two days. Lara Ammermann started and allowed three runs in the first and Genia Jones allowed three runs in two-third of an inning before Tori Rodriguez finished out Saturday's action. Hannah Windham started after the resumption on Sunday and allowed four earned runs in three innings.
Jiminez and Ashley Brown had two hits each for the Cowgirls and Abby Maillet had three hits for LC. Maillet also was the winning pitcher allowing three runs over three and two-third innings of relief of Taylor Leger.
Game 3
Hardin-Simmons scored three runs in the first inning and Rodriguez made it hold up as she went the distance allowing one run on six hits to improve to 5-0 on the year.
In the first, Sarah Truelove and Darden ledoff with back-to-back singles and moved to second and third on a sacrifice bunt by Jiminez. Kara LeLeux followed with a two-run single and Carley Willis added an RBI single later in the inning.
LC scored its only run in the third on a Courtney Ivey RBI single. The Wildcats threatened in the seventh inning with runners at second and third with two outs, but Rodriguez got a groundout to end the game.
Darden and LeLeux led the offense with two hits each and Heather Scully had two of the six LC hits.
Taylor Leger (2-1) started and allowed three runs to take the loss in two-thirds of an inning of work. Sevannah Settle allowed just three hits the rest of the way.
The Cowgirls are now 12-10 on the year and 9-9 in league play. LC fell to 13-3 overall and 12-2 in conference action. HSU will play at Sul Ross State next weekend.
