Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team had its chances, but could not capitalize in a 4-2 loss to LeTourneau on Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action at Ellis Field.
The Cowgirls left 15 runners on base to snap its six-game winning streak. HSU is now 17-11 on the year and 14-10 in conference play. LeTourneau improved to 10-15 overall and 5-12 in ASC play. HSU won the series two games to one.
HSU scored a single run in the second and third innings. Sarah Truleove had an RBI single iun the second and
Lauren Williams added an RBI single in the third.
LeTourneau scored all four of its runs in the fourth inning. Kelsie Benson and Megan Hill had run-scoring doubles in the inning and Whitney Judd had an RBI single.
Tori Rodriguez started for the Cowgirls and allowed four runs in seven innings to fall to 10-1.
Lara Ammermann worked three scoreless innings.
Courtney Matilus (2-7) started for LeTourneau and worked five plus innings and allowed just two runs on nine hits. Kaylee Pritchett worked the final two innings for her first save.
Hill led LeTourneau with three hits and
Braleigh Middleton had three hits for the Cowgirls.
HSU will play a doubleheader at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Abilene Christian.
