Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell to Concordia 4-3 in the final game of a three-game American Southwest Conference series on Saturday afternoon at Tornado Softball Field in Austin.
The Cowgirls had clinched the series with a pair of wins on Friday. HSU took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Christa Garcia RBI single.
Concordia scored twice on a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice in the bottom of the first. HSU tied the game in the third when M.J. Ledkins scored on a throwing error.
Concordia retook the lead in the third on RBI doubles by Brooke Jones and Samantha Zamarripa to make it 4-2. Darden had an RBI fielder's choice in the fifth to make it 4-3.
Darden had two of the seven Cowgirl hits. Tori Rodriguez went the distance and allowed just two earned runs and five hits to fall to 3-5.
Noey Ruiz scattered seven hits and allowed two earned runs to improve to 2-1 for the Tornados.
HSU fell to 6-7 overall and 2-7 in the league and Concordia improved to 5-9 and 2-7 in league play. HSU will host Ozarks next week in home ASC action.
