Box Score 2 JACKSON, Miss. – Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a pair of games on Friday afternoon at Belhaven, 9-0 and 2-0, in non-conference action in Jackson, Miss.
The Cowgirls could not solve the BU pitching in either game.
In the first game, Julianne Broussard allowed just two hits and struck out seven in the five-inning run rule to improve to 11-2.
Tori Rodriguez allowed seven runs in three innings for the Cowgirls to fall to 8-8.
Olyvia Hamilton worked an inning in relief.
Belhaven scored three runs in the first and two more in the second, third and fourth innings. Makenzie Hawkins led the offense with two hits and she drive in three runs and Taylor O'Dell had two hits and drove in two.
Lauren Williams and
Kara LeLeux had one hit each for the Cowgirls.
In the second game Belhaven received sacrifice flies from Makenzie Hawkins in the first inning and O'Dell in the fourth to score the only two runs of the game.
Lara Ammermann fell to 4-4 as she allowed two runs on six hits. Jordan Herring improved to 6-1 with the two-hit shutout, striking out seven.
Williams and
Alexis Vines each had one hit for the Cowgirls. Savannah Lyon had two hits for BU.
The Cowgirls are now 14-13 on the year and the Blazers improved to 22-5. The games against Belhaven do not count in the softball standings in the ASC.
The teams will close the series with a single game at noon on Saturday.
