JACKSON, Miss. – Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell 6-1 to Belhaven on Saturday afternoon in Jackson, Miss.

The Cowgirls took the lead in the third on a solo home run by M.J. Ledkins. Belhaven answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning on a Dani Craft two-run double and a Savannah Lyon RBI single.

Belhaven added a Haley Yasses solo home run in the fourth and a Meg Garton RBI groundout in the sixth.

Ledkins had two of the four HSU hits. Dani Craft had three hits to pace Belhaven.

Taylor Surrento went the distance in the circle for Belhaven allowing just one run on four hits to improve to 5-2. Lara Ammermann went four innings for HSU and allowed five runs on five hits to fall to 4-5. Genia Jones worked two innings of relief.

The Cowgirls are now 14-14 on the year and Belhaven improved to 23-5. HSU hosts LeTourneau in ASC action next weekend.
