Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell 2-1 in an American Southwest Conference game at Ellis Field on Friday afternoon.
Summer Harper had a solo home run over the left center fence in the top of the second inning. Brittani Whitten made it 2-1 when she scored off a wild pitch in the top of the fourth inning.
Breana Greer scored off an Alexis Vines single to center field from third base in the third inning for the Cowgirls' only run.
Olivia Kaase had two hits for Concordia. Alexis Vines recorded two singles. Lauren Williams hit a double in left center in the bottom of the seventh and Breana Greer had a single in the bottom of the third for HSU.
Shelby Burrus worked a complete game for the win in the circle allowing four hits and one run. Genia Jones took the loss allowing two runs in seven innings for her first loss of the season.
The Cowgirls are 1-8 overall and 0-7 in league play. The Tornados improved to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in ASC play. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m.
