Box Score Abilene, Texas. – Hardin-Simmons softball team saw its late rally fall short against Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference play with a 2-1 loss on Saturday afternoon in Abilene.
The Wildcats scored both of their runs in the fifth. Shea Smith scored off a fielder's choice. Alyssa Ross scored off a Sami Walter's single.
Kirsten Kenyon hit a lead-off double in the seventh. M.J. Ledkins brought her in on an RBI single. Breanna Greer moved Ledkins to second on a single with two outs. The next batter would strikeout.
Savannah Settle (8-2) earned the win for the Wildcats, working seven innings to improve to 8-2. Lexie Allen (3-6) pitched a complete game for the Cowgirls giving up two runs on eight hits.
Greer had three hits for the Cowgirls. Shea Smith and Shelby Bergeron each had two hits of Louisiana College's eight hits.
The Cowgirls are now 7-12 on the year and 4-11 in league play. Louisiana College improved to 17-2 on the year and 14-1 in conference. HSU will travel to Seguin, for a two game series with nonconference Texas Lutheran on Wednesday starting at 1 PM.
