Box Score ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' softball team received another stellar effort from freshman hurler
Lexie Allen and the Cowgirls beat Belhaven, 1-0, on Saturday at Ellis Field.
Allen tossed her second complete-game shutout in the series, after tossing a no-hitter yesterday. Allen scattered four hits and struck out six to improve to 7-8 on the year.
HSU scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Lauren Williams led off with a single and moved to second on a sac bunt by
Kirsten Kenyon and alertly moved to third when the Blazers didn't cover third base.
Mercedes Ruiz then drove her home with an RBI single to center.
Lauren Feagin fell to 1-2 allowing one run in three and one-third innings of work. Taylor Surrento worked two and two-third scoreless innings of relief.
M.J. Ledkins had two hits for the Cowgirls and four different Blazers had hits, all singles.
After starting the season 2-9, the Cowgirls have now evened their record at 15-15 on the year. Belhaven fell to 10-19. HSU will play at LeTourneau next weekend in ASC play.
