Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell 6-5 to LeTourneau in eight innings in American Southwest Conference action in Longview on Saturday.
HSU scored two runs in the first inning on an error and a passed ball. LeTourneau tied the game in the bottom of the first with a pair of bases loaded walks to Madison Gray and Alyssa Pierce.
Kelsi Coleman had an RBI groundout in the third for LeTourneau and Taylor McKenzie had a two-run single in the fourth to make it 5-2.
Kirsten Kenyon had an RBI single for the Cowgirls in the fifth and
KeAmbria Hunter had an RBI groundout to make it 5-4.
HSU tied the game in the sixth when
Breanna Greer singles, and stole second and scored on a throwing error by the catcher.
Alyssa Pierce had an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to win the game for LeTourneau.
Lexie Allen started and allowed two runs in an innings plus of work.
Chloe Brignac allowed three runs in three innings and
Lara Ammermann took the loss allowing one run over the final three and two-third innings. She is now 1-3 on the year.
Ashley Burdine started and allowed four runs for LeTourneau and Faith Genoway allowed just an unearned run over the final three and two-third innings to improve to 8-8.
Greer had three of the Cowgirls' 11 hits and she also stole three bases. Gray had two hits and scored three runs for the Yellowjackets.
The Cowgirls are now 17-16 on the year and 11-13 in conference play. LeTourneau is 13-21 on the year and 8-19 in ASC play. HSU hosts Mary Hardin-Baylor beginning on Thursday in ASC action.
