PINEVILLE, La. - Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped an American Southwest Conference doubleheader to Louisiana College falling 10-2 and 12-0 on Friday evening at Wildcat Field.

Game 1
LC exploded for six runs in the first and two runs each in the second and third innings.

HSU scored its two runs in the top of the fifth inning on a two-run double by Hillarie Carpenter.

Five different Cowgirls had one hit each. Carpenter drove in both runs. Lexie Allen started and allowed eight runs in two innings on seven hits to fall to 0-7 on the year. Genia Salazar worked the final two innings.

Savannah Settle improved to 5-3 for the Wildcats scattering five hits and allowing two earned runs. Samantha Setta had three hits, drove in two and had three runs scored to pace LC.

Game 2

LC scored three times in the second and third innings and added six runs in the fourth to put the run-rule in place.

Kirsten Kenyon and Christian Blevins each had a hit for the Cowgirls. Gabby Ortega started and fell to 0-12, allowing six hits and nine runs. Blevins got the final out for the Cowgirls.

Chelsea Lewis improved to 4-2 as she tossed a two-hit shutout. Sami Walters had three hits for the Wildcats.

The Cowgirls are now 0-19 overall and 0-11 in conference play. Louisiana College is now 10-7 overall and 8-3 in ASC play. The teams will close the series with a noon game on Saturday.
