TYLER, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team lost 8-0 to UT Tyler in Tyler on Friday night in five innings.

The Cowgirls got out of a bases loaded jam on defense in the bottom of the first, only allowing one run for the Patriots. However, the offense wasn't there for HSU and they only managed one hit to Tyler's 11 and would go on to an 8-0 defeat.

Sidney Cox got the lone hit for the Cowgirls on the day, a two-out single in the top of the third.

The Patriots were led by Theresa Gonzales with three hits and Colleen Bentke on the mound with eight strikeouts to only two walks and the one hit given up in the win.

The Cowgirls stand at 3-4 on the season and will play a double-header with the now 5-0 record Tyler tomorrow starting at 1:00 P.M.
