Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team defeated the LeTourneau Yellowjackets 2-1 in American Southwest Conference play at the HSU Soccer Complex on Friday night.
Jakob Fiol opened the scoring for the Cowboys in the third minute off a through ball from Jack Sissen to take the 1-0 lead. LeTourneau would tie on a long shot put in the corner by Emad Mohamed in the 55th minute.
The Cowboys took the lead in the 78th minute off the foot of Jose Victor with an assist from Alejandro Lopez to eventually win 2-1 in the team's home opener.
The Cowboys shot 23 times and put 12 on frame while LeTourneau had eight shots and three on goal. The Cowboys led with four corner kicks to one.
Reid Applewhite had two saves in the win for the Cowboys. The Yellowjacket keeper was Jack Carpenter and he had ten saves in the loss.
The Cowboys improve to 3-4 and 2-0 in the ASC on the season and will play the ETBU Tigers on Sunday at the HSU Soccer Complex at 3:30 p.m.
