Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team won 3-1 over the ETBU Tigers on Sunday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play at the HSU Soccer Complex.
Jakob Fiol ran by the defense for goal in the third minute thanks to a Jack Sissen throw-in to make it a 1-0 Cowboy lead early.
In the 24th minute, Alejandro Lopez finished a ball on the back post from J.J. Sissen to make it 2-0 HSU. Francisco Cerillo touched a one two ball to Jakob Fiol who laid it off to Cerillo to score the third Cowboy goal in the 66th minute.
The Tigers got a goal from Maison Callicut in the final minute off a pass from Gabriel Alvarez to make it a 3-1 final score for the Cowboy win.
Hardin-Simmons shot 12 times with six on goal and ETBU had seven shots and three on frame. The Cowboys had three corners to two for the Tigers.
Reid Applewhite started in goal for HSU with two saved and one allowed in the win. Gunner Barry started for ETBU with three saves in the contest.
The Cowboys improve to 4-4 and a perfect 3-0 in ASC play and will play next at UT Dallas on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
