Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – She'Ray Wilson scored a career-best 26 points and Hallie Edmondson hit a late 3-pointer as Hardin-Simmons overcame a seven-point deficit in the final minutes for a 74-73 win on Saturday afternoon at Colorado College.
The Cowgirls trailed 71-64 with 3:46 to play in the game. Natasha Blizzard hit a short jumper and then HSU recorded a defensive stop and Ashton Garner got an offensive rebound and put back to cut it to 71-68.
HSU then had two straight stops but couldn't convert offensively. A third straight stop and She'Ray Wilson buried a 3-pointer to tie the game with 1:24 to play.
Tomlinson scored for CC to make it 73-71 and again the Cowgirls had the answer as Hallie Edmondson buried a 3-pointer from the top of the key with :41 to play in what turned out to be the game winner.
The defense then had to come up big. HSU stopped the Tigers and CC had to foul but the Cowgirls missed both free throws making the defense have to make another stop. CC's Anna Fanelli missed and Tomlinson got the rebound with one second left. Healy Bledsoe got a good look for a game-winning 3-pointer but it rimmed out.
The teams were tied at 16 after the first quarter. HSU used a 13-4 run in the final 3:36 of the first half to take a 38-30 lead at halftime. CC chipped away at the deficit in the third quarter and HSU took a 55-54 lead into the final quarter.
Wilson was joined in double figures by Brittany Schnabel with 11 points. Audrey Bayston led CC with 22 points. Tomlinson had a double-double off the bench.
The Cowgirls are no 6-0 on the year and Colorado College fell to 2-3. HSU will next be in action on Thursday in American Southwest Conference play at Belhaven.
