Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team won 1-0 in overtime against the Belhaven Blazers in the American Southwest Conference opening game.
The Cowboys had a bitter 90 minutes of scoreless soccer against Belhaven until the first minute of overtime when Jakob Fiol put one in from Daniel Guillen to ice the game, a 1-0 Cowboy victory.
The Cowboys shot six times with two on frame while Belhaven had seven shots in the contest. HSU had five corners to one for the Blazers.
Reid Applewhite got the win with a clean night in goal for HSU. The Belhaven keeper was Max Rudolph who recorded a save in the game.
The Cowboys improve to 2-4 and 1-0 in ASC play to start the year. The men will return home to host LeTourneau next Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in Abilene.
